This literary study examines representations of social communication in the European literature of the 12th to the 16th centuries. In the Middle Ages, Boethius' "Consolatio Philosophiae" is one of the most influential philosophical works from Late Antiquity. It was frequently commented on and translated. This collected volume examines the commentaries and translations of the famous text from a European perspective and thus paves the way for interdisciplinary research into the medieval reception of Boethius' work. The volume contains chapters by linguists and literary scholars from a variety of disciplines, together with historians and philosophers.

Media revolutions awaken longings for the authentic. Literature and art react by turning to the facts, the action and the moment and by pretending to be life. The historical avant-garde movements, which were exemplary for much of the aesthetics around 1970, testify to this. This study explores the history and theory of aesthetics from Nietzsche to Adorno and shows examples of authenticity in various art forms (documentary literature, performance art, autobiography, narrative, collage) as an aesthetic effect.

Beabsichtigt ist die erste wissenschaftliche Gesamtdarstellung der Lyrik Kellers.

An ideal existed according to which friendships of childhood days should be the basis for erotic relationships and marriages. These studies explore which concepts of love, sexuality, and also of life, society and homeland were behind this conception and what followed from this as a consequence.
