Gegenstand dieser Untersuchung ist zum einen eine Diskussion ausgewahlter Phanomene der Wortbildung; zum anderen geht die Arbeit der grundsatzlichen Frage nach dem Verhaltnis von Morphologie und Syntax bzw. dem 'Ort' der Wortbildung in der Grammatik nach. Die Untersuchung bezieht zu zwei zentralen Streitpunkten der Skriptaforschung Stellung: zur Frage nach dem Verhaltnis zwischen der geschrieben uberlieferten und der lokal gesprochenen Sprache und zum methodologischen Zugang. In der germanistischen Linguistik ist die Abgrenzung von Adjektiven und Adverbien seit jeher umstritten. Das vorliegendeBuch greift diese Problematik auf und erortert zunachst im Rahmen eines forschungsgeschichtlichen Kapitels bisherige Kategorisierungsmoglichkeiten fur Worter wie schnell und sofort. This book develops a theory of the morpheme in the framework of Distributed Morphology. Particular emphasis is devoted to the way in which functional morphemes receive their phonological form post-syntactically, through the operation of Vocabulary Insertion. In addition to looking closely at syncretism, the primary motivation for Vocabulary Insertion, the book examines allomorphy, blocking, and other key topics in the theory of the morpheme.
