This report identifies an approach to quantifying desired conditions for two existing forest communities at Valley Forge National Historical Park (NHP); a Dry Oak Forest community and a Successional Tuliptree Forest community. The framework of the National Vegetation Classification System (NVCS) was used to write the descriptions for the desired conditions and compare target communities to globally described associations.

The objectives of this project were to: 1) evaluate the present geomorphic condition of the Washita River through the Battlefield; 2) evaluate the adjustment of the present channel to the prevailing water and sediment supply to the channel, and how this adjustment has changed through time; 3) evaluate the likelihood that a modified channel similar to that which existed in 1868 could remain in equilibrium with the present conditions of flow and sediment; and 4) based on the findings of this study, develop conceptual alternatives for achieving a stable channel form and functional riparian...

Under the auspices of the Greater Yellowstone Coordinating Committee (GYCC), the National Park Service Inventory and Monitoring Program and several other agencies began a collaborative, long-term monitoring program to track and document the health and status of whitebark pine across the GYE. This report presents a summary of the data collected by the monitoring program between 2008 and 2011.

Since the late 1970s, the NPS Air Resources Division (ARD) has managed a comprehensive air quality program, emphasizing the collection of credible air quality information to support scientifically sound resource management decisions in parks. In general, air quality monitoring in parks, including monitoring of atmospheric deposition, ozone, and visibility, is done in conjunction with national networks. The authors describe the atmospheric deposition monitoring protocol.

This Physical Resources Foundation Report is designed to support development of the Foundation Document for WHSA and to be used as a reference for the General Management Plan, as needed. The primary objectives of this report are to: 1. Build upon the monument's purpose and significance statements and identify the fundamental physical resources critical to achieving WHSA's purpose and maintaining its significance. 2. Provide background information for WHSA's fundamental physical resources (current condition, related trends, and issues/threats). 3. Define the relevant laws and policies that...
