Das vorliegende Buch fullt eine Lucke in der deutschsprachigen Qumranforschung, indem es eine kompakte Einfuhrung in samtliche in Qumran gefundenen Handschriften gibt: die genuinen Qumranschriften, das apokryphe und pseudepigraphische Material (Henoch, Jubilaen, ...) sowie, in einem kurzen Abriss, die biblischen Handschriften.

Die Gesellschaft widmet sich dem Studium der Bucher der griechischen Bibel (Septuaginta), die nicht in der hebraischen Bibel enthalten sind, und der spateren judischen Literatur, also etwa aus der Zeit vom 3. The impact of earlier works to the literature of early Judaism is an intensively researched topic in contemporary scholarship.
