Coyote Recrudescent: The Monolithic Myth Multiplies (SubQuantum Endothermic Edition). These twisted takes on traditional tales of the Trickster detail the continued frenetic mythopoetic adventures of the ancient Coyote in post-modern civilization as he steals, cheats and lies for pleasure and profit. Coyote reenters the modern world, drawn back in by the popular retelling of traditional trickster stories around charcoal fires in trailer parks. The world is confusing, but he manages to steal big and live big. Finally tired of fighting, and dying from cancer, he retired to Flalaland, moving into a retirement condo, and bringing unwanted excitement to the elderly inhabitants. But, the challenges of retirement are too daunting, and Coyote reenters the fray, to combat new monsters that threaten wildlife, while at the same time trying to get rich through pornography and banking. He competes in the Floridol singing contest, chews gum, meets a real vampire, and tries to earn a college degree. Having attracted the attention of the new sensitive military, he has to survive being used for animal experiments. He takes time out to become a new kind of superhero, Napman. He gets into new mischief through advertising, masks and genetic engineering-although the genetic changes that gave him dire wolf size, kestrel vision, and neon tropical fur sometimes backfire. He tries to develop his own religion to become powerful and wealthy. He has to avoid the vengeance of powerful people and restored gods, including Forest Trump, Sam McHooter, Adolf Wittenschnegel, Brigid (the Lady of the Lake), and Seth. Having alienated the new gods, from Gaia and Humanity to Bottomline and Media, he has to avoid their attempts to keep him in line with a list of assassins, from Tlaloc to Seth. But, he is assisted by Fox, Otter, a genetic engineer, as well as rogue computers and ratavas (avatars resubstantiated in the flesh). One of the Ratavas programs Coyote into a strange, Alice-like dimension. The animals, having formed their own nation, decide to strike for territory and rights. Coyote's best mate Wakanda, who has learned the secrets of time and space, becomes trapped in quantum foam. Coyote realizes that although the old monsters that threatened humanity are gone, new monsters are being created, and his skills as the ultimate trickster are still needed. But, he is fired as Trickster by the Great Spirit, then killed finally by two other gods. Life goes on.
