This is the second in the series of poetry collections that began with -September. Once again, adapting the Japanese tanka form, Quentin S. Crisp presents a poetic and aphoristic journal of season, mood, observation and introspection. Both a scrapbook of a writer's working process and a marshalling of new combinations of subject matter through an update of old forms, October is a further attempt by the author to close the gap between the time-taking, record-keeping distance of the written word and the immediacy of the living moment.

Like Water is a collection of haiku (traditional style) originally written in Spanish and now translated into English. The book is divided into four sections: Water ( ), Nature ( ), Life ( ) and Writing ( ). It has forty-nine haiku accompanied by fifty-three full color images: photographs by the author, illustrations by Andy Castillo (www.andycastillo.com); and Japanese calligraphy (Shodo) by Elena "Hikari" from Shodo Creativo www.shodocreativo.com. It also has a translated haiku (written in beautiful Japanese calligraphy) by Akiko Harimoto "Soja."

This book is the first product of the ongoing collaboration between artist Ross McKessock and haikuist Gabriel Rosenstock. Inspired by the image of Orpheus in the underworld, Rosenstock has composed a haiku rensaku in response to an audio recording of McKessock duetting with wheezing buses, heckling onlookers, and the ambient sounds of Oxford in an underpass sandwiched between City Council offices and the ongoing construction of a new shopping centre.
