This volume consists of a set of ten lectures conceived as both introduction and up-to-date survey on discrete integrable systems. It constitutes a companion book to "Integrability of Nonlinear Systems" (Springer-Verlag, 2004, LNP 638, ISBN 3-540-20630-2). Both volumes address primarily graduate students and nonspecialist researchers but will also benefit lecturers looking for suitable material for advanced courses and researchers interested in specific topics.

This book offers a systematic presentation of up-to-date material scattered throughout the literature from the methodology point of view. It reviews the basic theories and methods, with many interesting problems in partial and ordinary differential equations, differential geometry and mathematical physics as applications, and provides the necessary preparation for almost all important aspects in contemporary studies. This book describes a family of algorithms for studying the global structure of systems. By a finite covering of the phase space we construct a directed graph with vertices corresponding to cells of the covering and edges corresponding to admissible transitions.
