In the present investigation, a domestic pond named Bangshal pond in old Dhaka was studied limnologically for one year. The Bangshal pond was excavated over 189 years ago. This pond providing ample surface water for the citizenry to wash and bathe. In the present investigation 40 genera were represented in the phytoplankton communities. All these genera belonged to six algal classes.
