In the present investigation, thirteen genotypes were tested for salinity and showed wide variation in tolerance for saline toxicity at panicle initiation stage of 6 EC dSm-1 and its score ranged from 1 (highly tolerant) to 9 (highly susceptible). Scoring was done based on IRRI system of classification. The two land races viz., Nona bokra and Pokkali, were highly tolerant (score 1) to salinity followed by FL 478 and CSR 36 which were tolerant (score 3). An investigation was carried out with eight diverse genotypes of Sesame (Sesamum indicum) to gain and insight into the existing pattern of variability for quantitative traits and to assess the extent of morphological and genetic variability and association among these genotypes and to find out the high yielding superior genotypes.
