An investigation was carried out with eight diverse genotypes of Sesame (Sesamum indicum) to gain and insight into the existing pattern of variability for quantitative traits and to assess the extent of morphological and genetic variability and association among these genotypes and to find out the high yielding superior genotypes. The study revealed that all the genotypes were differed significantly among themselves for all the characters. Based on mean performance, the Genotype VRI 5 was found to be superior and registered maximum mean value number of clusters per panicle, days to maturity and thousand Seed weight. Followed by the Genotype SVPR 1 registered maximum mean value for number of branches per plant, number of pods per plant and single plant yield. Hence, these genotypes may be utilized for the improvement of yield and other useful traits. High GCV and PCV were observed in the traits viz., Number of branches per plant, Number of capsules per plant, Capsule breadth.
