Noyes, Rev. Eli, D. D., was born in Jefferson, Me., and was converted when ten years of age. He was connected with the Calvinistic Baptists until 1834. In January, 1835, he offered himself as a candidate for service as a missionary. He married Miss Clementina Pierce, daughter of Nathaniel S. Pierce, of Portsmouth, N. H., in May, was ordained in June at the session of the New Hampshire Y. M., and September 22 of the same year set sail for India in company with Amos Sutton and Jeremiah Phillips.
