The author Joseph E. Brierly of this collection of photoons got the idea for writing them while walking the Detroit Metropolitan Zoo in September of 2010. David H. Molitz, the author's brother, supplied his life long photography hobby to amass a huge collection of photographs of animals at the zoo. The pictures themselves without captions are even delightful to view. The captions composed by Dr. Brierly add warmth with a funny side to the creatures by giving them human traits.
