The purpose of this publication is to convey research findings to the Bureau of Land Management and other federal and state agencies to expand the current unding of Cooper's hawk and long eared owl nest occupancy and productivity information in areas affected by oil and gas development.

The Montana/Dakotas National Landscape Conservation System (NLCS) Strategy will implement the BLM's National Landscape Conservation System 15-Year Strategy 2010-2025 for designated public lands in Montana and the Dakotas over the next four years. It will also provide a starting point for discussion with partners, stakeholders, and members of the public on how they can support the management of these special places.

Congress has provided the Bureau of Land Management the privilege of protecting many special places for a myriad of uses. Of these lands and waters, those of the national Landscape Conservation System have been set aside specifically for conservation, preservation, and restoration.
