These volumes on energy technologies should help human society pave the way towards sufficient and environmentally safe provision and use of energy. The various contributions have been written by experts from all around the globe. This publication should primarily serve scientists, engineers, and students to gain information on physical, chemical, and technical properties of all technologies to provide, convert, distribute, store, and finally use energy.

In subvolume 27C1 magnetic and related properties of binary lanthanide oxides have been compiled. This subvolume covers data obtained since 1980 and can therefore be regarded as supplement to volume III/12c. While in the previous volume the majority of magnetic data was obtained either from magnetometric measurements or from neutron diffraction, for the present data the main emphasis is devoted to -related- properties without which, however, the understanding of classical magnetic properties is impossible. A second part 27C2 will deal with binary oxides of the actinide elements.

Volume II/24 presents the spectroscopic data on diamagnetic and paramagnetic molecules as well as on molecular ions and radicals up to date considering the publications up to and partly including 1997. The spectroscopic information collected in this volume has been obtained principally from gas phase microwave measurements. Volume II/24 is a supplement to volumes II/4, II/6, II/14, and II/19 and is planned to appear in five subvolumes, the last of which will contain the substance index taking into account all molecules worked at since 1967 in the volumes mentioned and will provide cross...

The neutron as one of the basic building blocks of matter plays a major role in both fundamental physics and applications. Volume I/16 presents an up-to-date collection of neutron data for neutron energies up to 20 MeV, with emphasis on energies in the keV range or below. Subvolume I/16B is a compilation of all known neutron resonance parameters of nuclei. The amount of data is so large that only the most important and recent data for each isotope are printed in the book, while on the accompanying CD-ROM the complete sets of resonance parameter, also those for higher...

Data on the densities of organic compounds are essential for both scientific and industrial applications. Knowledge of densities is important in many areas, including custody transfer of materials, product specification, development of various predictive methods, and for characterizing compounds and estimating their purity. The densities of polycyclic hydrocarbons were collected from the original literature published from 1870 to early 1998 and critically evaluated. The tables contain the original literature data along with their estimated uncertainties, and the evaluated data, in both...

Thermodynamic data for inorganic materials is fundamental to the optimization of existing process parameters and for investigating suitable parameters for carrying out potential new processes. With the aid of such data, time and costs can be saved by calculating the conditions necessary to produce a material of the required composition and specified purity, with a minimum usage of energy and input materials, and with a minimum release of harmful substances into the environment. The Scientific Group Thermodata Europe (SGTE)-evaluated data presented here are tabulated values of standard...

Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) is based on the fact that certain nuclei exhibit a magnetic moment, orient by a magnetic field, and absorb characteristic frequencies in the radiofrequency part of the spectrum. The spectral lines of the nuclei are highly influenced by the chemical environment i.e. the structure and interaction of the molecules. NMR is now the leading technique and a powerful tool for the investigation of the structure and interaction of molecules. The present Landolt-Bornstein volume III/35 Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Data is therefore of major interest to all...

This volume contains the compilation of parameters of nuclear bound states excited in reactions with charged particles. High-quality information on excited bound states situated above the low-lying levels but below the states seen as resonances is essential for the understanding of general properties of nuclei and is important for many applications. No systematic compilation of such data has been performed so far.

The magnetic properties of silicates and phosphates are compiled in subvolume 27I. While subvolumes 27I1, 27I2 and 27I3 (already published) deal with orthosilicates, sorosilicates and cyclosilicates, respectively, . the present subvolume 27I4 deals with inosilicates. Further subvolumes are dedicated to other types of silicates (phyllosilicates, tectosilicates) and to phosphates. - Silicates are very complex systems, covering large classes of minerals as well as synthetic samples. Their crystal structure is discussed and atomic positions are given. In addition to magnetic properties,...

This is a Standard Reference Book with selected and easily retrievable data from the fields of physics and chemistry collected by international scientists. Volume II/28 is a supplemented and revised edition of the preceding volumes II/7, II/15, II/21, II/23 and II/25, containing up to date information on the geometric parameters (internuclear distances, bond angles, dihedral angles of internal rotation etc.) of free inorganic and organic polyatomic molecules.
