Father Amando Llorente, S.J. was born in Mansilla Mayor, Leon, Spain, on August 24, 1918. He went to Carrion de los Condes de Palencia, a jesuit high school, and afterwards decides to enter the Jesuit order. He majors in philosophy at Ona, Burgos, and teach at Colegio de Belen in Havana, Cuba, from 1942 to 1945. He continues his studies in theology at the University of Comillas as well as Heythrop College in Oxford, England. He was subsequently ordained a priest on September 8, 1948.
