Father Amando Llorente, S.J. was born in Mansilla Mayor, Leon, Spain, on August 24, 1918. He went to Carrion de los Condes de Palencia, a jesuit high school, and afterwards decides to enter the Jesuit order. He majors in philosophy at Ona, Burgos, and teach at Colegio de Belen in Havana, Cuba, from 1942 to 1945. He continues his studies in theology at the University of Comillas as well as Heythrop College in Oxford, England. He was subsequently ordained a priest on September 8, 1948. He makes his Third Probation in Salamanca, Spain, in 1948. In 1950, he is made director of the Casa de Ejercicios El Calvario in Havana. In 1952 he is assigned the leadership of the Agrupacion Catolica Universitaria. IN 1961 he is forced to leave Cuba. He continues his mission of leading the Agrupacion Catolica Universitaria and the John Paul II Spiritual Retreal House from Miami, Florida. He died in Miami on April 28, 2010 at the age of 91. This book is a trascript of talks from spiritual retreats Father Llorente gave to the Carmelite Sisters of el Cerro of Los Angeles of Madrid. All those who have had the opportunity to listen to these lectures in Cuba, Miami, and other cities, are aware and grateful for the experience, as Father Llorente brought the teachings of Saint Ignatius of Loyola to life in these meaningful lectures.
