Gingival recession is one of the common signs of periodontal disease process with associated esthetic concerns and root sensitivity. Gingival recession characterized by apical shift of marginal gingival is a intriguing and complex problem and renders a source of anxiety to patients and perplexity to those treating them. Attempts are therefore directed towards inception of regenerative techniques aimed at impeding apical migration of gingival epithelium and concomitantly providing a favorable environment for restitution of lost periodontal tissues. Concept of guided tissue regeneration documented the clinical efficacy in treatment of buccal gingival recessions. Since then various resorbable and non resorbable membranes have been used with variable results. However, resorbable membranes were preferred thus obviating the need for second surgical intervention and preventing trauma to delicate gingival tissues.
