The book presents an intensive psychological analysis of Freud s Theory of Mother Fixation as portrayed in D.H. Lawrence's novel Sons and Lovers'. This phenomenon originates in the phallic stage out of son s excessive attachment with his mother, and an antagonism towards father. An attempt has been made to explain the nature of Mother Fixation in the personality development of the protagonist, Paul Morel, identifying its impact on the perception of students in Pakistani Universities. Phenomenological research paradigm is adopted. The data is collected through structured, semi-structured, informal and retrospective interviews, identifying the themes and categories that resulted from its content analysis. The study attempts to explain Mother Fixation in the context of our beliefs and cultural mores, analyzing its influence on thoughts, feelings, attitudes and behaviors of students. This phenomenological study concludes that interpretation of the phenomenon of Mother Fixation, in terms of sexuality, is not relevant to Pakistani society so it provokes negative response from readers. Simultaneously, the study encompasses an effective teaching approach of the selected novel.
