The word Poverty has a universal characteristic that transcends regional, national and undermined boundaries. It is a common saying that poverty is as old as "civilization". No wonder over the years, different governments in Nigeria have put in place numerous alleviation programs. However, there is an indication that these programs have not solved the situation in the country. There is a feeling among the beneficiaries of some of these programs that the deliberate political structures that deprive the poor of their political and economic rights are responsible for the failure of the programs. Indeed it has become very clear that for the government to succeed in its endeavor, it is very important to learn the culture and hidden rules of people in poverty. The question then is: what emotional preparation is required for people to break away from a generational cycle of poverty and ultimately transition out of impoverishment.
