Die vorliegende Arbeit will einen Beitrag zur Grundlegung der theologischen Apologetik leisten. Sie sucht dabei die Grenzen und Moglichkeiten des apologetischen Verfahrens zu bestimmen, indem sie es an der Vierfachheit des gottlichen Wirkens - Gottes schopferisches, gesetzgebendes, erlosendes und schlechthin verborgenes Wirken - orientiert. Diese Vierfachheit wird anhand wichtiger theologischer Entwurfe der letzten zweihundert Jahre (F. Schleiermacher, K. Barth, E. Hirsch, P. Tillich, W. Elert, P. Althaus und E. Brunner) untersucht.

This book argues that the 'constructivist metaphor' has become a self-appointed overriding concept that suppresses other modes of thinking about knowing and learning science.
