An increasing number of students graduate from U.S. high schools and enter college while still in the process of learning English. Building on Bourdieu's theory of practice, this book explores the key role of multilingual development and particularly the role of learning English in unequal secondary schooling access and outcomes. The book identifies gaps in our knowledge and areas for further research and points out major implications for language educators working with adolescents.
