He resolves to use any means to stop the carnage, once and for all, even if it requires ignoring his personal values and the rules of diplomacy and covenants that constrain civilized nations. The ultimate goal becomes his sole consideration. At stake may be a dire future of a world dominated by Radical Islam ruled from an Islamic Jerusalem by an omnipotent Caliph.
