This book is on hepatic disorders in dogs. Liver has diverse functions varying from digestion, metabolism, secretion, excretion, detoxification to blood clotting. Due to diverse functions performed by the liver the signs appearing in liver diseases are variable and often vague. Further the clinical signs appear only after 75% of liver is damaged. So the diagnosis of liver disorders becomes difficult. In this book approximately 150 dogs suspected of liver disorders were clinically evaluated for their liver status using a battery of tests. Clinical signs, haematological parameters, serum enzymes, radiographic as well as ultrasonographic evaluation were done. In primary liver diseases and extra hepatic diseases (diseases which secondarily affect liver) evaluation of liver status was done. Ultrasonographic observations in different hepatic disorders like hepatitis, cirrhosis and intrahepatic portosystemic shunt have also been included. Gall bladder changes like sludge, choliliths and wall thickening have also been shown. Ascites and protein profile in dogs has been studied. This book will be very beneficial for clinicians, researchers, veterinarians and medical professionals also.
