Based upon a current undergraduate course, this textbook presents an introduction to the subject through the use of a software environment. Simple numerical models are taught through the use of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, which do away with the need for language-specific computer models. Divided into three sections, the text deals with the general principles of modelling, familiarizes the reader with MS Excel and features a series of topical environmental models based on current research.
