This book is David Baillie's autobiography. He was born and raised in Nairn, Scotland. He received medical training at the University of Aberdeen, served as a ship's doctor, and after further medical training and work in London, emigrated to Victoria, BC, Canada. During the First World War, he served in the Royal Medical Corps including on hand medical care at the Battle of Passchendaele.
