Some years ago, our 4th-6th grade Sunday School class spent a year memorizing this Catechism. Since then, we saw many who were not part of that class walk away from Christ while some continued in the faith. We suddenly realized that most of those who remained steadfast had been taught the Catechism. As we pondered this, a member of that class who had left the area dropped by for a visit. He told us emphatically how memorizing the Catechism had guided his life by turning him into a true disciple. This helped him hold firm against the wiles of Satan; the others strongly agreed. We are commanded not to judge by appearance but to judge righteous judgment. Our Catechism had seemed old-fashioned and newer material appeared to be more vivid. Judging by fruits, however, we now know that our forefathers who wrote and used the Catechism to disciple Christians were wiser than we. The word "Catechism" means a summary of the principles of Christian religion expressed in the form of questions and answers. Jesus asked questions to get His disciples thinking. His most important question was, "But whom say ye that I am?" We used 8 1/2 X 11 pages to fit ordinary copiers. Feel free to use it in any way that spreads the Gospel. The fruits have shown that it's an effective way to "teach all nations." Our edition has all the traditional questions. It includes the full text of all scripture references, a doctrine index, an apologia explaining why we should believe that the Bible is the Word of God, and a glossary to help learn Biblical words.
