Reclamation of wastewater is the only solution to meet water demand. Reuse of water needs strict check of water quality and every country has developed water quality guidlines. This book is compiled with the aim to provide undergraduate and postgraduate students a concise mannual of water and wastewater analysis. I hope this book would be useful laboratory mannual for teachers and environmnetal science students.

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons are combustion products of pyrogenic and petrogenic origion. They are produced from natural and anthropogenic sources. In the present study PAHs concentration and exposure profile was determined. The compositional profile of PAHs revealed that 3 ring PAHs were predominant in samples.The toxic equivalency factors (TEFs) were used to quantify carcinogenic potential of PAHs relative to benzo[a]pyrene-equivalent concentration (BaPeq). Higher carcinogenic potency of PAHs in soil indicates a high degree of risk to the people exposed to these areas.

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons are ubiquoitous in environment. They can be produce from natural as well as from anthropogenic sources. In the present study their adsorption was studied on different soil types.Native soil have good adoptations towards degradation of organiccompounds. Degradation pattern can be expedite by controlling certain conditions. Present study concludes that in acidic pH and high organic mtter soil can degrade selected organic compounds in 12 to 24 hours.

Great amounts of perilous species are discharged by industrial activities polluting wastewater effluents, where by colored effluents are the most alarming. Constructed wetlands play an important role in wastewater treatment and are considered as a popular and efficient technique among the environmentalist. Adsorption is the most important phenomena taking place in the Constructed Wetlands system. Rice husk is an important waste material obtained in large amount from the agricultural practices and it showed a great potential in removing color from dye water.
