I'm a huge fan of romance, romantic suspense and action thrillers, and I felt there was something really missing in combining these genres. I also wanted to write really powerful female leads who, while impressive, are incredibly relatable, smart, self-reliant and gutsy.Q: Who or what inspired the lead character, Samantha Wyatt?A: Honestly, I just took what I liked most about the male leads in some of my favorite stories and turned the whole thing on its head. I started thinking, "What if James Bond or Jack Reacher were a woman? What if she was the head of a multinational corporation? What if she led a team of commandos--what would that be like?"As I considered all the possibilities, Samantha became much clearer in my mind. I saw a woman with true grit, style and the kind of savvy we admire but rarely see in female characters in romance or action/thrillers.
