The Chandra Shum Shere Collection, which arrived in Oxford from Varanasi over a century ago, is one of the largest Indian manuscript libraries in the world outside the Subcontinent. The arrival in 1909 of the library of manuscripts now known as the Chandra Shum Shere collection made Oxford the repository of the largest known collection of Sanskrit manuscripts outside the Indian subcontinent. This third volume of the catalogue of the collection contains descriptive entries for over five hundred manuscripts of Sanskrit hymnic and devotional poems from the sixteenth to the nineteenth century.
