An experiment was conducted to evaluate the performance of five wheat varieties viz. Gourav, Shatabdhi, Sonalika, Prodip and Barkat in respect of mature embryo culture and different concentrations of growth regulators ; 2, 4-D, kinetin, BAP, IAA and AgNO3. Mature embryos from five varieties were placed in MS medium supplemented with 2, 4-D (0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 and 4.5 mg/L) and kinetin (0.5 mg/L) for callus induction on BAP (0, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0 mg/L), IAA (1.5 mg/L) and AgNO3 (2.0 mg/L) for plant regeneration.
