Jonathan May grew up in Sawyerville, Alabama. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English at Birmingham-Southern College and a Masters of Library Science at Columbia University, where he worked first in the Journalism Library and later, after he got his degree, as Government Documents Librarian. He took early retirement from the library world, returned to his home in Alabama, and began to write. His published novels include A Howling in the Night and Siren Song.
