Victoria Carpenter is a graduate of the University of Central Florida (B.Sc., 1996) and the University of Hull (Ph.D., 2000). She is a Reader in Latin American Studies at the University of Derby. Her recent publications include the edited collection A World Torn Apart: Representations of Violence in Latin American Narrative (Peter Lang, 2007) and a number of articles on modern Mexican literature. She is the editor of the twentieth-century Latin American literature section of The Year's Work in Modern Language Studies.
