This work is an exploration on activities of Nepali owner-managers based on theoretical conceptualization proposed by Mintzberg (1973). Six participants were selected using judgmental convenience sampling. Main data collection tool was in depth interview. Data were collected for both grounded theory approach and in reference of managerial roles prescribed as per Mintzberg. Findings of grounded theory approach reveal that major activities of Nepali owner-manager are learning and upgrading, operations, financial controls, entrepreneurial activities, sales and networking. Comparison of roles of Nepali owner manager with managerial roles as per Mintzberg reveals that not all roles prescribed by Mintzberg are performed by Nepali owner-managers, and Nepali owner managers do also perform some roles not prescribed by Mintzberg. The findings of this work will be useful to trainer and academicians to develop curriculum and training program that produces confident owner-managers who are likely to succeed in their role of owner-managers. This work will also give a foundation for future academic researches in filed of managerial activities of owner-managers.
