Where death and life meet - A couple of months later, traveling by myself, I paid the fare to Georgia. Wearing my only dress, hiding two boarding tickets in the pocket, I never made it back to the depot. I reflect on this day because I'm caught in the chasm between life and death. I didn't finish what I set out to do. Standing by an old barn is a farmer gripping a bloody shovel. The knuckles on his hands are blue. His wife is feverishly pinning laundered diapers on the clothesline. Upon seeing the man, the woman runs toward him weeping. I hear the words that sealed my fate and put me in this undying glass box. The scene never changes.... "Carlson, did you bury the nun?" Strapped by guilt and remorse, the woman could not speak another word. Her face is distorted from anxiety. Her husband squinted, holding back huge tears protruding from his eye sockets. Using his sleeve, he wiped the torment streaming down his face. "Yes Lynnette, I buried Rosa. No one will ever find her." Sniffling, "Baby Thomas, he must never know our secret. He must never know." Dropping the murderous tool, grabbing her shoulders, "Lynnette, you cannot keep this from the boy. Someday, we will have to tell him about his mother." Glaringly wide-eyed, "Carlson, listen to me. If anyone finds out, I could go to jail and so would you. You buried her. It's over and you said no one would find her. Let's keep it that way. It's our secret." The man was unwavering. "Lynnette, you may think it's over but Rosa will come back from the grave. I can feel her; she is still here." Tightening her lips, shaking her head, "No, Rosa can't do that. She would never do that. You buried her. It's over - finished. This was her train ride to hell."
