He published under his real name of algebra and mathematical logic works and collections of puzzles and word games. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1866) was originally written to amuse Alice Liddell and her two sisters, daughters of the Dean of Christ Church. Following the adventures of Alice, Through the Looking-Glass appeared in 1872, and The Hunting of the Snark, long parodic poem, in 1876. They were illustrated by John Tenniel.
