Finklenook Woods is the story of a couple Dave and Christine Jackson, who after taking early retirement due to Dave having a minor heart attack, find themselves starting a whole new life in the country. They have lived in the suburbs of London for most of their lives, where Christine had been a nurse at one of the City hospitals, and Dave an architect with a large property development company. Their Children, Jenny and Steven are grown up, married, and living their own lives, while taking a short weekend break in the village of Finklenook, Dave and Christine stumble upon and fall in love with an old derelict farmhouse, Finklenook farm, and decide to restore it to its former glory. Finklenook farm, lies on the edge of a large wood, Finklenook woods, and the story takes an intriguing twist, after their dog unearths human remains in the wood, and they discover the previous owner of the farmhouse was murdered. The story continues to follow Dave and Christine through the ups and downs of the restoration work, to discover quite by chance a thriving retirement holiday park business, and inadvertently uncovering an international criminal operation.
