Marion Haines Duplantis' book, The Little Pumpkin, came to life in the classroom of the author's first grandson, Aaron Jon Shapcotte. Fay Bourgeois, Aaron's teacher at Acadian Elementary in Houma, Louisiana, asked Marion to visit the classroom to read to the students. Marion decided to tell a new story written just for Aaron's class. That's how the seed of The Little Pumpkin was planted. To help The Little Pumpkin grow, the author's nephew, Charles Adams, drew the colorful illustrations, and Marion's Niece, Charla Adams Korovec Schaefer, designed the Mar-Bear logo. A whole team of Marion's friends helped her to make The Little Pumpkin become reality. Little Pumpkin wanted to be somebody, someone special. If you have a dream, plant the seed, take care of it, and it will become real. That's what Marion Haines Duplantis has done. The Little Pumpkin is the first of an entire series of children's books she is writing. Marion Haines Duplantis is a native of San Bernardino, California, and now resides in South Louisiana. Marion is not only a mother, but also a grandmother, and a great grandmother.
