The present study made an attempt to find out the effect of spectral variations on perception of speech in young normal hearing adults. The study showed that the spectral information between 1500 Hz and 2100 Hz are important for perception of speech in Telugu & was no difference found in lower cut off is important in perception of speech in Telugu compared to English language. The speech identification scores improved with increase in low-pass cut off frequencies and with decrease in high-pass cut off frequencies. The participants obtained speech identification scores of 70% at low-pass cut off frequency of 1500 Hz and at high-pass cut off of 2100 Hz.
