A successful career in fine arts and graphic design led to her current position as full-time Professor and Chairperson of the Art Department at Westfield State University in Westfield, Massachusetts. She was supported in her art career by both of her parents, and has been drawing the darlene sisters since childhood. Humor is a big part of Wainright's family life. Stories for the sisters often stem from noticing the smallest event that someone else might overlook; a trip to the grocery store, or even the antics of the family dog. Jamie is greatly influenced by her two sons and a close-knit group of friends who are all huge fans of the darlene sisters. They are all so proud to see the girls published.
