When Lucy's glamorous, and self-proclaimed lesbian, sister Miranda returns, Robert is thoroughly confused and in emotional turmoil. Equally fascinated by both sisters, whose complicated relationship has a strange, destructive dynamic, he falls under their very different spells. The discovery of a horribly mutilated body forces Robert into closer involvement with the locals, and reveals this part of the world as far from peaceful and sleepy. As he turns amateur detective, Robert uncovers links between the brutal murder, rural corruption, and a well-organized criminal fraternity. And soon enough Robert starts to suspect his new-found friends, who all seem to be revelling in mystery and intrigue.
