Another locale is in Fairhaven, MA. Two runaway slaves are befriended by Cape Verdean dock workers before finding refuge in a hidden room (almost identical to a room in a farmhouse belonging to the authors' Grandmother.) They are then transported by carriage to find refuge in a Gypsy camp in North Fairhaven. Don't miss the riveting court trial that takes place with evidence stacked against one of the main characters. You'll also be introduced to the temptress, Abigail, and the trouble she brings to Helen and Joshua's family. The book is gripping and may bring tears to your eyes but it is also sprinkled with lighter and quite often laughable moments. "Run Away to Glory" is a story of unsung heroes, of both races, some who gave their life for acting out their convictions.
