A New Zealand-born neophyte artist, James Vallence, rents an old villa on the French Riviera not knowing that his life will drastically change when Kimberley Spenser, a beautiful young American, shows up at his door. Masked intruders break into the villa, James is shot and wounded and Kim is abducted. Mystery surrounds her disappearance and, with few leads, James desperately searches for her. Unsuccessful in finding Kim's whereabouts, though not losing all hope, James tries to rebuild his life in Paris. He cannot, however, escape a vendetta begun by her kidnappers .
