Population based Cancer Registries(PBCR) are hallmark of cancer surveillance and cancer control programme as they provide data on pattern and trend of different types of cancer occurring in a geographical region. The value of a PBCR is largely determined by its data quality and quality control procedures in place. Establishing a PBCR in developing countries is a great challenge due to lack of funds and resources and trained manpower. further, the data quality of the PBCRs from developing countries is questionable. Current quality control study was undertaken to assess the data quality of four new PBCRsI in Chandigarh and Punjab,North India as against the quality parameters set by International Agency for Research on Cancer(IARC), Lyon, France and International Agency of Cancer Registries(IACR).
