This book presents theoretical elements related to the competencies and preparation needs in Heritage Education for primary school teachers in the mountainous areas of Manicaragua so that they can contextualize the pedagogical process in these areas where the natural, cultural, tangible and intangible heritage is varied, diverse and rich. For this reason, concepts are defined by different authors, compared, essential features are inferred, the heritage values of the mountainous areas are presented, requirements for heritage education are offered and a proposal of objectives and contents in which teachers can be prepared;This may enable them to adapt the curriculum to the local setting, to reformulate objectives, to rearrange the teaching process, to modify the duration, the settings for teaching, extracurricular and extracurricular activities, to incorporate components of local culture as learning content, and to design various forms of assessment. In this sense, they need knowledge, skills, abilities, and values to guide their actions.
