Poems One is the author's first ever attempt at producing a collection of poems and was inspired by his late wife Sharon. It is beautifully illustrated by his talented cousin, the professional illustrator Gillian Martin who kindly donated her time to this project. Stephen says... This book of poems is dedicated to my beautiful late wife Sharon Louise Crawford, who was cruelly stolen from me at the early age of forty eight, by the hateful disease we know as breast cancer. Shortly before she died, Sharon urged me to write a book of poetry. She said she felt it was my true calling, that my attempts at songwriting were more like poems, and writing a poetry book was the obvious thing to do. She suffered a lot in her life with both epilepsy and cancer but throughout her illnesses and treatments she always smiled and never lost her wonderful sense of humour. I miss her every day. The first poem I wrote as a tribute to her less than twenty four hours after she died; I believe her spirit may have been guiding me. That poem started me on a journey which culminated in this book. Profits from this book will be donated to Willen Hospice in Milton Keynes, here in the UK. During the few years up to Sharon's passing away, they provided an invaluable and incredible support service to the Crawford family, and I don't know how we would ever have coped without them. Their help and care in the last few days of Sharon's life was amazing and eased her passing from this world. I hope you enjoy my little poems and even if you don't, then be assured that you're supporting a very worthwhile cause.
