The global energy demand is increasing with increase in population, modernization, and industrialization. The world at present relies heavily on fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and gas to meet its energy requirements. However, the world's natural resources are depleting rapidly leading to a pandemic energy crisis. Furthermore, the excessive use of carbon-based fuels is adding tremendous amount of green house gases in the atmosphere and raising the temperature of our planet at an alarmingly rapid rate. Therefore, it is important to search for nonpolluting and renewable sources of energy to replace fossil fuels and to satisfy the energy need of the growing global population. During the past several decades, there have been considerable research and developments in the areas of environmentally friendly fuels and energy technology. Hydrogen has emerged as one of the strongest candidates. The science of productions, storage and utilization of hydrogen has been discussed in detail in this book.

I received M.Sc. from TU, Kathmandu and Ph.D. in green chemistry from UMass, Boston. I did postdoctoral research in lithium ion batteries for several years (at University Of Rhode Island, BASF Germany, and University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee). I also worked as an adjunct assistant professor of chemistry at MCPHS university in Boston for some time.
