George Kipp is a graduate of Maryville College and the University of Virginia where he earned the degrees of Bachelor of Science and Master of Education. He later became a Naval Aviator and flew anti-submarine warfare (ASW) aircraft until he retired from the Navy in 1975. During his undergraduate years at Maryville, although he was a Biology major, he became quite interested in history and fine arts. When he was studying there he learned about such powerful love stories as "Tristan an Isolde" and read many books, including works by Homer, Ovid, Kipling, Poe, Joyce, Shelley, Keats, Browning and some others. Not very much impressed by writers like Poe, because of his dread and morbidity, he was inspired by the beautiful expressions of writers like Shelley and Keats and became an incurable romantic. Although in semi-retirement now, he is still actively engaged in aviation and has finally found the time to revive his love of romanticism and to practice writing again. He lives on a farm near Red Boiling springs, Tennessee.
