This novel is an emotional rollercoaster ride as other characters such as Mrs. Datworth, Monica's mother- a well-to-do upper class snob who dislikes Malik and Monica's affection for him, Lyric, the other love interest of Malik, Taeyesha, Monica's best friend who, for reasons unknown also dislikes Malik, and a whole host of other supporting cast members help guide our principles through this maze of the real. This book is a celebration of Black culture through words and poetry. It is a collage of different experiences blended together to tell a tale of redemption, love and self-actualization .
