Present work reports isolation, characterization and antihepatotoxic evaluation of Lychnis coronaria, Marrubium vulgare and Berberis pachyacantha from Kashmir region against carbon tetrachloride induced toxicity using Silymarin as standard. Methanol extracts possessed significant antihepatotoxic potential as compared to petroleum ether and chloroform extracts. Phytochemical evaluation of these plants resulted in isolation of thirteen compounds including two novel compounds isolated from M. vulgare and B. pachyacantha for the first time. Both these isolated compounds were found to possess significant liver protecting potential.
