The free-living movement patterns of youths are described as like particles in Brownian Movement and it is accepted that long duration and repetitive- type exercise does not appeal and is not the natural choice of youths. This book examines the various exercise tests used for the assessment of anaerobic fitness among youths and the development of anaerobic fitness of youths between the ages of 10 and 17 years. Peak power (PP) and mean power (MP) in the Wingate Anaerobic Test (WAnT) increased with age and this increase was greater than the growth in body mass. Sample-specific allometric modelling of data is recommended as a viable alternative in describing the longitudinal development of anaerobic fitness in young people. Future research recommendations such as the use of non-invasive technologies to study muscle metabolism in youths are alluded to. This book will be of interest to undergraduate and graduate students, paediatric exercise physiologists, exercise scientists and researchers who are interested in the exercise capabilities- in particular the all-out intensity exercise performance of children and adolescents.
